U.S. Department of Justice: ‘Former Binance CEO Zhao Changpeng at Risk of Fleeing’
According to CoinDesk, the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has urged a court to impose a travel ban on Zhao Changpeng, the former CEO of Binance, citing a risk of him fleeing. Prosecutors emphasized, “We do not seek Zhao Changpeng’s arrest before the sentencing date. However, his departure should not be approved. This poses a sufficiently controllable flight risk.” Earlier, a U.S. court had delayed the sentencing in Zhao Changpeng’s case by six months, permitting him bail during this period and allowing travel between his residence in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Prosecutors have now requested a reversal of the decision allowing entry to the UAE.
