According to local Hong Kong media ‘Dung Wang,’ the Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission, Leighton Leung, revealed in an interview that they are conducting research on regulating over-the-counter (OTC) cryptocurrency trading. He stated that this research aims to improve regulatory mechanisms and licensing processes. Leung emphasized the risks associated with cryptocurrency investments and urged users to transact with licensed entities. He also expressed Hong Kong’s openness to welcoming cryptocurrency firms that meet internal requirements. Additionally, when addressing the unlicensed cryptocurrency exchange JPEX, he stated that he does not believe the incident will significantly impact investor trust.
